L’Oreal Paris EverPure Shampoo & Hair Sheet Mask Review

Do you ever have one of those days where you just don’t feel creative at all, but you still have things to do, and you know you’ll regret it if you don’t at least attempt to do them?

That’s me, currently.

I don’t feel particularly motivated today, which I believe is due to a combination of exhaustion and frustration. I’m exhausted because I’m running on practically no sleep. And I’m frustrated because today has been a major technology battle (bloggers, I’m sure you know what I mean by that…).

Overall, I’m feeling sort of meh today. And the reason I’m telling you that is because the only way I could motivate myself to write a post was by deciding to do something short, simple, and easy. So, if this seems a little lackluster, know that I’m trying my best. I’ll be back with something else on Tuesday.

Now that that’s out of the way, today I’ll be reviewing the L’Oreal Paris EverPure Sulfate Free Repair & Defend Shampoo (isn’t that a mouthful?), as well as the EverPure Intense Repair Hair Sheet Steam Treatment Mask (yikes, another mouthful). I received these products courtesy of Influenster a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been meaning to review them. And, given how I’m feeling right now, this seemed like the perfect day to do so.

I was pretty excited to receive these products for a lot of different reasons. The shampoo, which is sulfate-free and targeted specifically for color-treated hair, had been especially pumped. The shampoo’s description says the product was designed to protect color-treated hair against color aggressors. And since I get my hair highlighted a few times a year, I was curious to see if it actually worked.

The first of the two products I tried out was the shampoo, and my reaction to it was pretty mixed. When I initially opened the bottle, I loved the scent. It reminded me of those high-end products that stylists put in your hair at the salon. However, after I actually started using it, it smelt more and more like chemicals to me. In fact, I was almost sick of the smell by the time I finished washing my hair. I read a few other reviews to see how others felt, and it seems as though people are divided. I guess it’s just one of those scents you either love or hate (and it simply wasn’t for me).

Another thing I disliked about the shampoo was how my hair felt immediately after. As I said before, the shampoo is advertised specifically for dry, color-treated hair. However, I felt like it left my hair feeling more dry than it had been to begin with (a.k.a. the exact opposite of what it was supposed to do). Products work differently for everyone, so I don’t want to say this is a total bust. But for me personally, it wasn’t a good fit.

The sheet mask from this line, on the other hand, was a completely different experience for me. I’ve never used a hair sheet mask before, so I was a little bit skeptical about it. I generally like to keep things simple when it comes to my hair, and the whole concept of a hair sheet mask seemed complicated.

To my surprise, it really wasn’t. The mask is like a large piece of tinfoil filled with product. You secure it on your head after you’ve finished washing your hair and leave it on for about 5 minutes. After that, you take it off and rinse your head thoroughly.

I absolutely loved this mask! I can’t even tell you how clean and refreshed my hair currently feels. It’s been a few hours since I’ve used the mask, and it still feels great. My roots are the softest they’ve been in forever, which was much-needed after the disastrous experience I had with the aforementioned shampoo, and the product smells great. It isn’t too overpowering, but it’s also not so weak that it has already faded away. It’s the perfect balance!

In conclusion, the EverPure shampoo was a no for me, but the sheet mask was a definite yes. I think I might pick up another one of these the next time I’m at Target. I feel like it would be a handy product to have on a lazy night-in.

Anyway, that concludes this post! I hope you enjoyed reading, and I’ll catch up with you all later this week! 🙂

Have you tried this shampoo and sheet mask before?
