Winter Lookbook

So we’ve reached that point of year again when things feel kind of dull. With the chaos of the holidays several weeks behind us and our normal schedules back on track, mid January can be a major drag. I mean, it’s dubbed the longest month of the year for a reason…

In order to attempt to bring some restorative energy to this agonizingly slow month, I thought I would do a winter lookbook. By now, you probably know I’m not a big fan of winter. (Cold temperatures, icy roads, and frigid windchills are generally not my thing). Fashion, on the other hand, is something that never fails to excite me. So, I figured what better way to spark inspiration than to show off some looks I’ve been loving?

Here are three outfits I’ve been into this winter and a little rundown of what I like about them!

MIDI SKIRT + SNEAKERS

If you know ANYTHING about me and my personal style, you know I’m a sucker for polka dots. This retro-inspired midi skirt is one of my favorite things in my closet right now. I love the buttons going down the middle and the slit is both fun and playful. Although it costs more than I would typically pay for a skirt, the piece is super versatile. I expect to get a lot of use out of it, regardless of the season.

I paired the skirt with a simple pink sweater and small pendant necklace. Also, I wore my comfiest pair of sneakers because lately I’ve been really into the sneaker and skirt trend. I like to call it my “dressy but ready to run a 5k” look. It’s cute but still functional.

COAT + OVER-THE-KNEE BOOTS

If it’s winter and the day calls for a dressier ensemble, you can almost guarantee I’ll be wearing a flowy dress and a pair of over-the-knee boots. Over-the-knee boots are the perfect substitute for heels in the winter. Not only are they stylish, but they also help keep your legs warm when it’s chilly.

I decided to wear these black over-the-knee boots with a maroon dress and my favorite winter coat. Simple yet dressy.

LONG CARDIGAN + LEGGINGS

Surprise, surprise: more polka dots. This is probably one of the most stylish yet exceedingly comfortable looks in my winter wardrobe. This black-and-white polka dot cardigan is warm and cozy. So easy to throw on as I run out the door on a cold winter morning. To keep the comfy vibes going, I tend to wear it with a plain black top and leggings. The whole outfit feels more like pajamas than day clothes, and I love it. Is there anything better than cute looks that require no effort whatsoever?

Anyway, those are a few outfits I’ve been wearing this winter! I hope you enjoyed reading, and I’d love to hear about the trends you’ve been adoring this season. Also, let me know if you’d like to see another post like this closer to spring!
