Inspirational quotes create a large sense of divisiveness here on the internet. Like the Oxford comma and pineapple as a pizza topping (both a YES from me), everyone seems to have a strong opinion about them, and everyone believes they can make a convincing argument for their case.
Today I am here to make my case for inspirational quotes. Although they may be perceived as cheesy and unnecessary, inspirational quotes can actually be pretty useful if they are given the chance.
#1: They remind you that you aren’t alone
One of my absolute favorite things about inspirational quotes is that they can serve as a reminder that, even in difficult times, you are never alone. Whether you’re feeling sad, purposeless or lost, an inspirational quote can help you see that you are not the only one going through these emotions. There’s something comforting in knowing that the way you feel isn’t limited to you and you only. By relating to other people, you can make it easier for yourself to get through tough times.
#2: They help you remember your purpose
Creativity comes in waves for me. One moment I’ll be bursting with inspiration and energy. The next, I’ll be struggling to scrape together even one idea. When I’m going through the latter, it can be challenging to find the motivation to push through, which is where inspirational quotes come into play. A powerful quote can help you regain your feeling of purposeness after you’ve lost it.
#3: They help you think positively
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Positive thinking is productive thinking. By this point, you all are probably well aware of my love for positivity, and I think its relation to inspirational quotes is sort of self-explanatory.
#4: They keep you focused on your goals
An all-time favorite quote of mine is “do something today that your future self will be thankful for.” I like to remind myself of it whenever I feel tempted to stray away from my goals. It puts things into perspective for me, reminding me that although I might not see results from my hard work today, I will see them eventually. That success is the gradual buildup of hard work, not the immediate effect of one productive day.
In my mind, inspirational quotes like this one make it easier to stay focused on the goals that truly matter to me. The way I spend my time now will contribute to my ability to accomplish goals in the long-run. By reiterating this fact through inspirational quotes, I am able to work harder and not allow distractions to get in the way of my future plans.
#5: They make fun wall art While this may not be as compelling of a point as the others, it doesn’t hurt! Last year, I made a cute wall decoration using inspirational quotes I found on Pinterest. It was a fun way for me to enjoy the quotes.
