My Favorite Fashion Trends From 2018

With 2018 now coming to a quick and sudden close, I thought it might be fun to look back on all the fashion trends I fell in love with over the course of this calendar year. 2018 was a big year for me in terms of fashion, and my style saw a lot of changes. As I glanced over the fashion posts I put up on the blog this year, these were some of the most common things I found myself wearing.

I think I can definitively say that 2018 was the year of denim for me. Not only did I picked up a new jean jacket this year that immediately became a staple of my wardrobe, I also (more recently) found adoration for denim skirts. I love the vibe that denim pieces give to an outfit. I think they manage to make things look both casual and pulled together. The majority of my go-to outfits from 2018 contained some element or variation of denim. This is a trend that I strongly believe will come along with me into 2019 as well.

Flannels were a HUGE part of the beginning of 2018 for me. In fact, I wrote a post at some point in January talking about how a red-and-white flannel I received as a Christmas gift was basically the only thing I was wearing. My love for flannel didn’t totally diminishing as the year went on, but it certainly wasn’t as strong as it had been at the beginning. Nevertheless, it still deserves to be featured as a major personal trend for 2018.

Stripes are a consistent love of mine, so I wasn’t surprised at all when I realized how many times I had worn striped tops on the blog this year. In particular, I really loved the way striped tops looked with my jean jacket. Overall, it’s cute, fun, and casual.

What was probably the biggest surprise to me about my wardrobe selections in 2018 was how much floral there was. I have always liked floral, but I never realized how much of it I wear. This year, I wore a lot of different floral pieces in a lot of different ways. Floral tops, floral skirts, and floral shorts all made appearances on Currently, Lately. Of course, that doesn’t even include all the floral outfits I wore that didn’t make it on the blog. Clearly floral is one of my must-haves.

Over-the-knee boots

Another trend that was pretty big for me this year was over-the-knee boots. More specifically, a pair of black over-the-knee boots that I picked up right at the end of 2017. These boots were my go-to shoe in the winter. I love the way they look, and the fact that they match just about everything. Like the denim, I have a feeling over-the-knee boots will stick with me in 2019.

Anyway, those were some fashion trends I enjoyed in 2018! It was a lot of fun to look back and see the things that made appearances all throughout the year. I can’t wait to see what kind of styles 2019 has in store.

What was a trend that you loved this year?
