Makeup Sponges vs. Brushes

a makeup sponge versus a makeup brush

Makeup sponges versus makeup brushes.

Given that this is one of the most hotly debated topics in the the world of makeup, I thought I would use today to offer my two-cents on the subject. I also thought it would be kinda cool to hear what you all think about it as well.

Anyway, I have been back-and-forth with the whole brush versus sponge debate for a while now. For YEARS, I was a hardcore sponge person. I ultimately felt like a sponge did a better job of covering my entire face evenly without leaving streaks everywhere than a brush did. Overall, I believed sponges were the way to go, and that nothing could change my mind.

But things took a sudden and drastic shift when I discovered a brush that I really liked using to apply foundations and tinted moisturizers. Unlike most brushes I had used in the past, this one blended my makeup seamlessly. It didn’t leave large, noticeable streaks, and its bristles weren’t too rough or pointed.

I ended up using that brush for several months before going back to my old sponge ways. But right now,  , I am sorta at this point where I can’t decide which of the two options is actually the better one. Which brings me back to the reason I wrote this post in the first place: your thoughts and opinions.

I would really love to know which you prefer using to apply your makeup. And if you have a specific brand or model that you like, I would love to hear about that, too.

So, do you prefer makeup brushes or sponges? What’s your favorite tool for applying face makeup?
