How to Rock A Mock Neck Top

Sorry for the rhyming blog title. I just couldn’t help myself.

Today, unsurprisingly, we’re talking about mock neck tops. Now, I don’t know about you, but I love a good mock neck for fall. High necklines in general have always been one of my favorite trends to wear around this time of year. They give off a preppy, autumnal sort of vibe that I can’t get enough of. Plus, a mock neck gives you the look of a turtleneck without the feeling of being choked, which, let’s face it: we’ve all encountered at least once or twice while wearing a turtleneck.

My philosophy when it comes to styling mock necks is to keep things simple. Necklaces tend to lay awkwardly with necklines like this one, so I feel that it’s best to let the top should serve as the focal point of the outfit. Pair the mock neck top with pieces that will help it stand out rather than pieces that will draw attention away from it.

For this particular look, I decided to put my green-and-white striped mock neck tee with a plain black skirt and over-the-knee boots. The top has a ruffled hemline, so I tucked it into the skirt to keep the outfit flowy and cohesive. I really felt that the simplicity of both the boots and the skirt brought out the best in the top. To finish off the look, I slipped on a fun pair of sunglasses.
