Hello there!
I have to be honest with you and confess that I sat down to write this post today with absolutely NO idea what I wanted to talk about. Normally when I write a post, I have a general idea of the direction I would like to take it, but that was not the case today. I came up with this idea on the fly, which is really unlike me. But, hey, at least I am writing something. That’s all that matters, right?
Now that I’ve cleared that up, we can get into the actual point of this post…blog posts. I know this isn’t everybody’s favorite thing, but I think it’s interesting to write about blogging. I am not an expert by any stretch (the understatement of the century right there), but I know a thing or two. And I most certainly know a thing or two about the way I like to do things in terms of blogging. And, unsurprisingly, I am VERY specific about it.
These are a few items that I ALWAYS have to include in my blog posts. Some of then are aimed at grabbing attention from readers, while others are based on personal preferences. Either way, I would strongly say all of them are a must for me.
Links to old content
A good way to keep readers from clicking away from your blog as soon as they finish a post you have written is to include links to some of your similar content. At the end of a lot of my blog posts (including this one), I will add a section of related posts that readers can click on right after they finish reading. I like to make sure the posts are similar to each other because it increases the likelihood that a reader will be interested in reading more. For example, if I have just finished up a post about flat lay photography, I will include a few links to other photography-based posts that I have written in the past. It keeps people clicking on some of my older content that they might not otherwise see or even know about.
Links to social media
Another great thing to add to your blog posts are links to your social media. As I am sure you know, social media can play a tremendous role in blogging. Having your readers follow you on social media gives you an easy way to relay messages and let me know what’s going on with your blog. In addition, social media connections can help your readers get to know you better. Allowing your readers to get to know the person behind the blog can help them relate to you more, as well as provide a way for easy interaction.
Question/s for readers to answer
Ending your blog post with a question can really help spark up your comments section. Whenever I publish a post, I always am interested in hearing what other people have to say about it. Whether a post is about makeup or goal setting or blogging, you want to make sure you open your post up for discussion by posing a question or two.
Visuals
Visuals are not everyone’s favorite thing, but in my experience, they are total GAME CHANGERS when it comes to getting people interested in your blog post. When it comes down to it, I think it’s just a simple fact that people like photos. If you include a high quality image or an intriguing graphic with your latest post, it is going to catch people’s eyes.
I like to think about it like this: Imagine you are scrolling through your reader, trying to find a post to read, and you see two posts on the same topic. One post has bright or aesthetically pleasing visuals, and the other has no visuals. Chances are you are going to be more likely to click the post with the visuals. Don’t get me wrong; the focus of your blog should still be your writing because that’s what is ultimately going to keep people coming back. HOWEVER, it is important to remember that in order for people to see your writing, they have to first click on it.
Your voice
Regardless of the topic, it is important that your voice is presented at the forefront of every blog post. Your blog is about YOU, and your voice is what makes that happen. Consequently, it’s super critical that you put your own unique twist on everything you write. No matter where you go with something, your voice HAS to go with you.
ANYWAY, that’s what I’ve got for you today. I hope you enjoyed reading, and I appreciate you taking the time to check this out! 🙂

I have a question for you.
What is your experience with tags? Have they helped you? Recently I’ve been inclined to start adding them to my posts.

I think all photos should have suitable meta-data. This improves SEO dramatically. If no meta-data, than at least type in the “alt text” for all the media used in the posts.
