Polka dots have made a bit of a style resurgence over the past year or so. Being someone who adores the print, I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to take a trip down memory lane and revisit all the polka dot looks I’ve worn on the blog.
So, if you’re into polka dots like me, I hope you enjoy!

Polka dots are generally preppy in nature, which is something I decided to embrace for this look. Opting for a black-and-white Peter Pan collar top, tights, booties, and a simple black mini skirt, I felt like I was able to achieve a sophisticated and traditional polka dot ensemble. Sticking with the basics can sometimes lead to great end results.

This larger style of polka dots was definitely not my norm, but I had a fun time figuring out how to wear them. I ended up choosing a high-neck black top and tights. Overall, it was a simple look. But I felt like the simplicity helped the skirt pop even more.

If you know anything about my personal style, you know that there’s nothing I love more than breaking up black-and-white outfits with a bold pop of color. In this case, I took a polka dot black-and-white boatneck top and styled it with a pair of burnt orange shorts. The shorts are clearly the star of this number, so I think the takeaway here would be to use polka dots to bring out other pieces. Instinct often tells us to make the print the focal point of an outfit, but it doesn’t have to be. Polka dots can be just as stylish and effective as a background player than as a main focus.

You know what looks good with polka dots? A nice pair of boots. For this look, I went with a polka dot bandage skirt, a button-down blouse, and plain over-the-knee boots. Simple, preppy, and stylish, this outfit is perfect for a warmer fall day. Unlike in the previous look, the polka dots are the main focus here, and I feel as though it works pretty well.

Wow. Another black-and-white polka dot piece. I’m starting to wonder how you all don’t get sick of my sense of fashion (lol). I seriously need to change things up. Anyway, this is one of my simplest looks, but it’s the one I am most likely to wear on a day-to-day basis. Similar to the look with the burnt orange shorts, I really focused on the pop of color here, which was the maroon boots.
Overall, I think polka dots are really easy to style. It’s just a matter of deciding whether you want your polka dot piece to be the center of your outfit or if you want it to highlight the center of your outfit. Once you’ve made that decision, putting the rest of the look together becomes simple. You either select basic pieces to let the polka dots shine or you find the thing you want to bring the most attention to.
