4 Productivity Hacks You NEED In Your Life

Is it just me or does anyone else love productivity hacks?

I’m always looking for new ways to enhance my productivity. As a part-time blogger, finding the time to write content while still fulfilling my real-life responsibilities can feel like a big juggling act. So, when I find a trick that helps me get more stuff done, it’s a pretty big deal to me.

Today I’m sharing four of my current favorite productivity hacks. Hopefully if you’re in need of some time-saving, one of these will do the trick.

Multitask sparingly

In theory, multitasking sounds great. Consolidating your to-do list and finishing tasks quicker makes a lot of sense. How wouldn’t want to save themselves time and energy?

HOWEVER, I’ve recently realized that the actual practice of multitasking is much less efficient than it sounds. In fact, it can be really counterproductive. Instead of consolidating your to-do list, multitasking is like giving two different things half the amount of thought and effort that they need.

Don’t get me wrong: multitasking can still work. It does for a lot of people. But in my experience, I’ve found that it’s better to multitask sparingly. And even then, only with very simple tasks. I will paint my nails as I fold laundry, but I won’t respond to emails as I’m writing a blog post. Basically, if something needs your full-attention, make sure to give it your full-attention.

Wake up early

MORNINGS ARE THE TIME TO GET STUFF DONE.

Seriously. Getting up earlier has been UNBELIEVABLE for my productivity. I’m getting things done a whole lot faster and still having plenty of free time for myself later in the afternoon and evening.

So, what is it about mornings that has caused this magical life change?

There are less distractions.

When you wake up early in the morning, you don’t have to deal with a whole lot of anything. Since most people are still asleep, you don’t have anybody trying to get your attention. And when you don’t have anybody trying to get your attention, it becomes all the more easier to get done what you need to get done.

Since I started getting myself up earlier, I’ve seen massive strides in my overall productivity. It was rough at first, I’ll admit. I’ve never been much of a morning person, so it there were many exhausting mornings in the beginning. However, as time went by, I actually started feeling excited about getting up and getting work done.

Disconnect the wifi

Don’t let the simplicity of this one cause you to overlook it. Disconnecting your wifi can be a game changer if you find yourself struggling to be productive.

We all know how easily the internet can derail productivity. All it takes is one quick Twitter break. And suddenly, you end up scrolling through social media for hours, completely forgetting about the productive day you had planned for yourself.

What I’ve found is that by physically disconnecting myself from the wifi, I am able to work more efficiently without getting sidetracked. It’s especially helpful when I’m trying to get something done on my laptop. Every time I attempt to open up my browser and get the message saying “no connection found,” it serves as a little reminder for me to stay on task.

Stop trying to be perfect

Becoming so fixated on making something perfect is probably the unproductive thing I find myself doing the most. I continuously stare at something I’m working on, trying to think of ways I can improve it, to the point where it becomes unnecessary.

It’s important to remember that NOTHING you do will ever be perfect. You’re always going to be able to look back on something and tell yourself you could’ve done this better or that better. Perfection is not an attainable goal. And the sooner you realize that, the easier it will be for you to move forward with what you’re doing.

  1. I’m terrible at getting up early. Mainly as I lie there checking my phone for 30-40 minutes which is very unproductive! When I do get up I have to see to the dogs, the rabbits, sort out my daughter’s breakfast and pack her lunch then take her to school. I would be so much better off if I got up earlier! The other problem is that I stay up too late! Maybe I should work on going to bed earlier then try getting up earlier! Great tips though lovely!
