Monthly Goals: September 2018

I’ve decided to kick off September with another installment of my monthly goals because I really feel like I need it. Writing these posts helps me sift through my thoughts and brings a calming sense of structure to my life. Any of you planner-oriented people feel that way, too? I don’t know why, but it gives me a little peace of mind.

So, September goals. Let’s talk about them.

Purge my closet

I’ve needed to give my closet a good old cleaning for, well, pretty much FOREVER. But for the life of me, I cannot seem to throw out clothes! Anytime I attempt to sort through my belongings and identify things I don’t wear, I suddenly become emotionally invested in every little item that I own. I meant it. Every. Single. One. I could probably find a sentimental reason to keep a broken ponytail if I needed to.

Anyway, my hope is that this month I’ll FINALLY purge my closet. I can definitely think of a few items already that I don’t need to have anymore. Let’s wait and see if I manage to follow through with it.

Appreciate the warm weather

I am NOT a cold weather person. But where I live this time of year, the weather can be really unpredictable. It might be warm for another few weeks. But it’s equally as likely that the temperatures will take an abrupt nosedive.

While it’s still warm, I want to make sure I spend as much time as I can outside.  Whether I am reading, relaxing or doing work, I love being out in the sunshine.

Do more spontaneous blogging

I like to make this one of my goals every now and then because spontaneous blogging is one of my favorite things. As I’ve mentioned in the past, in order to keep up with a consistent posting schedule, I have to write a lot of my content in advance. I generally don’t mind operating on this type of schedule, but it is nice when I have the chance to write something and immediately publish it.

That being said, I am hoping to have at least a few opportunities for spontaneous blogging this upcoming month. I’ve already shot some photos, so now it’s just a matter of getting stuff written.

Keep my desk organized

Here’s a funny thing about me: I have certain things that I have to keep organized at all times, and other things that are constantly messy. One of those constantly messy things is my desk. Strewn with papers, pens, chargers, and cords, my desk is always in a state of disarray. I’ve tried in the past to keep it somewhat de-cluttered, but my efforts have been to no success.

I’m hoping that MAYBE since I’ve written keeping my desk organized down as a goal, I’ll be able to actually go through with it. I am certainly going to have to keep you all updated on this one because I am curious to see how it goes!

Thank you for reading! 🙂

  1. I love reading other people’s goal posts! Thanks for the inspo! My September goals are to pass my first exams in college and start saving for Christmas shopping (it’s creeping up soo quick!) And, of course, stay organized!

  2. I absolutely love that you have monthly goals! I usually have some yearly ones but I like the idea of trying to do monthly ones that may be a bit easier to achieve in a month!
I am also the same way with my closet. I once held on to a shirt that I no longer (and would never) fit in again because of some memory I had while I wore it. It took almost 10 years to finally purge it. 🙂

  3. I’m definitely going to adopt your desk goal this month! Mine is so messy because 1) I just throw things on there and 2) I do my makeup there and am always too lazy to put it away when I’m done. I’d love to get new uses out of my desk, but that can’t really happen since it’s pretty much always unusable!
