How to Wear A Maxi Skirt When You’re Short

There seems to be this idea out there that if you’re short, you can’t wear maxi skirts. Being on the shorter side myself and loving the long skirt trend, I totally disagree. There are a lot of ways you can style a long skirt, even if you’re not super tall. Here are a few of my favorite tips!

GO HIGH-WAISTED

Your best case scenario for finding a maxi skirt that fits your height is to go with a high-waisted one. This skirt that I have on here has a higher fitted waist, which is perfect for me because it falls just below my ankles.

CHOOSE HIGHER SHOES

Higher shoes will help your legs appear longer no matter what you’re wearing, but they particularly come in handy when you’re wearing a maxi skirt. I make sure to pair heeled booties or wedges with my maxi skirts just about every time I wear one of them. The additional height gives me more comfort.

FIND A SKIRT WITH A SLIT

Another thing I’ve discovered about maxi skirts is that ones with slits have a tendency to make your legs look more elongated than ones without them.

GO WITH A MIDI INSTEAD

If you’re having trouble finding a maxi skirt that suits you (or doesn’t drag across the floor when you walk…basically the story of my life), then it might be a good idea to try a midi skirt instead. Midi skirts are similar to maxi skirts, and they come in all sorts of different styles and patterns. Overall, they are good alternative.

I hope these tips will be useful to you! Thank you so much for reading!
