Before I get into this post, I would first like to apologize for how long it has taken me to write. I went on this trip in June, and I meant to have the travel guide up a couple of weeks after I got back. But between getting settled back at home, catching up on blog work, and putting together my New York City Travel Guide, it quickly got moved to the back burner.
But I’m getting to it now. It’s officially off the back burner. Without further delay, here is my Chicago Travel Guide!
SITES:
Cloud Gate – If you’re visiting Chicago, I would highly suggest stopping by Cloud Gate and taking some photos. There’s not much to say about it other than it’s super fun and touristy.
Buckingham Fountain – Another fun (and free!) thing to see while you’re in Chicago is Buckingham Fountain. Buckingham Fountain is in the vicinity of Cloud Gate, so I would definitely recommend checking them out around the same time. The fountain is absolutely massive, and you’ll be sure to get a great photo while you’re there.
Willis Tower – If you like cool views, Willis Tower should be on your itinerary. The observatory level offers amazing views of different sides of Chicago. Plus, if you’re looking for an interesting photo opportunity, you have to check out The Ledge. The Ledge is a small box made entirely from glass that sticks out from the observatory level, which you can stand in and pose for photos. It’s pretty crazy to look down and see nothing but the city beneath you.
Architecture River Cruise – Chicago is known for its architecture, so something else I would recommend would be to take an architecture cruise through the city. I took one the first time I visited (during my pre-blogging days), and I thought it was a really cool experience. A really neat way to see the city and learn about the history of the buildings.
The Museum of Science and Industry – Chicago’s science museum is one of the most expansive museums I’ve ever seen. It has many fun and interactive exhibits for people of all ages. Whether you’re visiting with friends, family, or small kids, everyone will be able to find something they enjoy seeing.
Shopping on Magnificent Mile – Shopping on the Magnificent Mile is a MUST if you’re in Chicago. Even if you aren’t planning on buying anything, I would recommend taking a stroll through some of the shops. The Magnificent Mile has just about anything and everything. Honestly, you could spend an entire day checking out all the stores.
One place you should definitely stop at, which I also mentioned in my NYC Travel Guide, is Dylan’s Candy Bar. Dylan’s is a giant candy store, and it’s unlike anything else I have ever seen. If you have a sweet tooth, you will love this place.
FOOD:
Lou Malnati’s Pizza – Chicago is known for its deep dish pizza, and there are a lot of different places you can get it. My favorite is Lou Malnati’s. The crust is flaky, the cheese is gooey, and the sauce is delicious. It’s so good that, quite frankly, I am half-tempted to end my food recommendations right here, because this is all you need to eat.
Stan’s Donuts – Another spot you should check out is Stan’s Donuts. Stan’s offers a wide variety of choices and flavors, including Nutella, toffee, and red velvet. I had a gelato shake while I was there, and the presentation was really cool.
Garrett Popcorn – If you’re a popcorn person, this is the place to go. I would recommend getting the Garrett Mix, which is a combination of cheddar and caramel popcorn. It’s seriously one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.
Anyway, that concludes my Chicago travel guide. If there are any other travel posts you’d be interested in seeing, feel free to let me know.
Thank you so much for reading!

I also went to Chicago in June! Loved Dylan’s candy store too! I didn’t get to do the river cruise but wish I had, so it was nice to read what you had to say about it.

I’m from the Chicago suburbs and somehow have never had Garrett’s Popcorn although I see it every time I’m downtown. I’ll have to try and find some next time I’m in the city!
