Simple Vacation Makeup

When it comes to vacation makeup, my strategy is KEEP IT SIMPLE.

You don’t want to be stuffing a hundred different eyeshadow palettes in your carryon and lugging them on a plane. Something is bound to break. And even if you manage to arrive at your destination without something breaking, you really don’t know how much counter space is going to be available to you. Maybe you’ll get there and have a wide area to lay out all your products. But it’s more likely that you’ll be forced to cram everything on a tiny counter.

Either way, I don’t think bringing a bunch of makeup on trips is worth the hassle. I try to stick with a few basic products, all of which can fit in my makeup bag.

THE PRODUCTS I BROUGHT WITH ME ON VACATION:

Tarte Tarteguard Tinted Moisturizer – Since it was hot and I knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking, I decided to bring along my favorite tinted moisturizer. The formula of this product is super lightweight. Being a tinted moisturizer, it obviously doesn’t provide you with full coverage. But all I really wanted to have during my trip was a little something, so it worked wonderfully.

Tarte Creaseless Concealer – I’ve had this Tarte concealer for ages. Honestly, it’s been sitting in the back of my makeup drawer for as long as I can remember. It isn’t my favorite thing in the world, but I’ve been wanting to finish it up for a while now, so I took it with me. I haven’t quite reached the end of the tube, but I’m getting there.

Stila Shape & Shade Custom Contour Duo – I decided to contour a few of the days I was on vacation, and I used this lovely duo from Stila. This cream contour palette is very compact, which makes it great for airline travel.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder – Being out in the heat for long stretches of time, I needed a good matte pressed powder. This one from Rimmel London did an awesome job of keeping my face shine-free even on the warmest days. Also, it’s pretty inexpensive, so I didn’t have to worry about it getting damaged while I was on the go.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer – Since I used a contour kit most days, I also brought along with me a subtle bronzer. I like this one because it gives the perfect amount of definition to your cheeks.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz – Of course, my all-time favorite brow pencil had to make an appearance on the trip. If you don’t already know, I LOVE this product. It’s so easy to use. Plus, the built-in spoolie is convenient for travel.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner – This is my go-to eyeliner for basically every scenario, so it should be no surprise that it came along with me on vacation as well. It’s easy to use and long-lasting (a.k.a. the two most important qualities that an eyeliner can have). Whether you’re traveling or not, this is a great product that I definitely recommend.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Mascara – I’m not super picky about mascara. As long as a mascara does its job, I have no strong feelings about it. The one I am currently using is from Physicians Formula. It makes my lashes look long and darkens them up quite a bit.

Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm – In my opinion, Burt’s Bees makes some of the most moisturizing lip balms on the market. And since my lips have a tendency to get chapped while I’m away from home, I never travel without one. Another reason this balm is perfect for travel is that it’s very inexpensive. There’s no need to fret about losing or misplacing it because you can probably find another one at a nearby convenient store for less than $5.
