A Day In My Life

I did a day in my life post ages ago. And rather than do the exact same thing again, I thought it might be fun to use photos from my Instagram stories. I try to post as much of my daily life as possible on Instagram. So, today I decided to go through some of my old stories and basically piece together a typical day in my life.

If you are interesting in this type of thing, I’ll have something different for you tomorrow. But if you like reading more personal stuff, hopefully you will enjoy! I always like hearing about what other people do on a daily basis. I feel like it can say a lot about a person.

ANYWAY, without further delay, here’s a day in my life, told through Instagram stories!

If you know anything about me at all, I am sure you can guess that the very first thing I do in the morning is make myself a cup of coffee. Coffee is a critical part of my routine all day, every day. I honestly don’t think I could function without it.

After I’ve got my cup of coffee ready to go, I’ll grab my laptop and spend about fifteen minutes checking my email, responding to blog comments, catching up on the news, etc. It’s one of my favorite parts of the day. It gives me a little time to shake away any residual tiredness before delving into the day’s tasks.

Once I’ve had my coffee and woken up, I’ll start getting ready for day. What I’ve got to do is really what determines how much time I spend getting ready. If I am just sitting at home or getting some work done, I usually just wash and moisturize my face, and maybe (if I am feeling motivated) put on makeup. I am the type of person who either goes full out with makeup or doesn’t wear any at all. There isn’t much of an in-between for me.

If I am staying at home for the day, the next thing I will do is get started on some blog work. Sometimes I will write blog posts. Sometimes I will take photos. Sometimes I will work on my social media. It really just depends on what area of my blog is in need of work.

In this case, the blog needed some photography. For me, shooting flatlays is a full-fledged process. It can get sort of ridiculously messy, so I tend to shoot a lot of them at once. I don’t like turning my floor into a disaster scene all the time, so the best practice for me is to have longer, less frequent photo-taking sessions. And when I’ve finished a session, I immediately start editing.

(I didn’t have any Instagram stories related to working out so I am using this instead!)

At some point in the day, I will end up going for a run. I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but I really enjoy running. It’s one of my favorite ways to clear my head and to take a break from whatever I’ve got going on.

After I have worked out and gotten through some blog work, it’s usually about time for an afternoon pick-me-up. If I am feeling healthy, it will be a smoothie. But if I am not (which is most of the time, TBH), it will be something caffeine based. Usually an iced coffee. However, on this particular day, it was iced coffee blended with ice cream.

After that, my day pretty much consists of dinner, reading, and Netflix. I may end up doing a little bit more blog work, but it all depends on how much I was able to get done earlier in the day. It’s a simple routine, but it’s one I have come to really enjoy.

What’s a day in your life like?

  1. I’m about the same, minus the coffee. If I’m not working, first thing I do is check emails and socials. Walk the dogs, see to our bunnies then get my daughter to school. Blogging and housework follow!
    Loved reading this!
