Sunflower Shorts & Sunny Days

Sunny days are my favorite days, and today was a really good one. I got to spend some time outside, enjoying the nice weather. And it seemed like the perfect occasion for an OOTD post.

Since today mainly consisted of being outdoors, I decided to go for something casual. This top-and-shorts combo has been one of my summer go-tos for a couple years now. I love how fun and laid-back it is. Not to mention comfortable.

While this top is making its debut on the blog today, I promise this is not the first time I’ve worn it. This loose-fitting button-down shirt is actually one of the most commonly worn items hanging in my closet. The fabric is super light and airy. Plus, I can never resist a good button-down. It’s a little bit on the longer side, so I tend to tie is in a knot so that it looks right with high-waisted shorts.

Speaking of high-waisted shorts, these ones are awesome. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure how they got to be in my possession. I can’t remember if they were given to me or thrifted. But I do know that they are from Guess, and I didn’t buy them at Guess. Which explains why I wasn’t able to find them anywhere online.

ANYWAY, these shorts are a lot of fun. Normally, I don’t wear orange or yellow, so having the little pops of them appear in the form of flowers is both summery and a nice changeup from my typical day-to-day looks. I also love the look of the four silver buttons. I’ve seen this style a few times with high-waisted shorts, and I think it’s a cute addition.

Finally, I paired this look with sunglasses with massive frames. I’ve worn these glasses a few a lot of times on the blog, but I’m not sure how many more uses I’m going to be able to get out of them. The lens for the left eye has actually fallen out of the frame several times (and because I have such great luck, most of these incidents have happened in public. Let me tell you, people give you strange looks when your glasses suddenly fall apart as you’re walking through the mall parking lot…), but I’m still unwilling to let the glasses go. Sometimes you find an item that you really love and don’t want to get rid of.

That’s pretty much the look. Simple, comfortable, and cute. It doesn’t get any better than that, right?
