If you couldn’t tell from her frequent appearances on the blog, Audrey Hepburn is one of my all-time favorite icons. I adore her movies, her style, and most of all the things she did for others throughout her lifetime.
Given my admiration for Audrey Hepburn, I got the idea today to share some of my favorite of her quotes. Audrey offered lots of wonderful and poignant insight, and these are just a few of her many attributions that I love.
“Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m possible'”
Arguably the most famous Audrey Hepburn quote, this message is so powerful and so important. It can be hard to remember that anything is possible, especially when things seem tough. But just because something is difficult does not mean it’s not doable. I like to keep this quote in the back of my mind whenever I am feeling frustrated. It’s crucial that we remind ourselves to maintain a constructive attitude whenever we feel lost or defeated.
“The most important thing is to enjoy your life — to be happy — it’s all that matters”
It’s easy to get caught up in all the chaos of life and forget the importance of happiness. I am certain that all of us can think of times when we have neglected our own happiness or pushed it aside because we didn’t believe it was valuable enough to prioritize. This quote serves as an excellent reminder that there is in fact a purpose to happiness. That it’s important not only to be happy, but to make being happy a priority.
“I don’t take my life seriously, but I do take what I do — in my life — seriously”
To me, this quote represents the value of balance. Being able to laugh at yourself and the things you experience, while at the same time taking what you do and what you wish to accomplish seriously is a very great thing. I kind of see this as a way of saying “work hard but don’t get so consumed by the idea of working hard that you forget to stop and enjoy things.” I am certainly guilty of doing that every now and then, so I love to use this quote as a guideline.
