Monthly Goals: May 2018

After much back-and-forth, I’m happy to tell you that I’ve officially decided to bring my monthly goals posts back. I know I said at the end of 2017 that I was planning to leave these posts behind, but I’ve recently realized that these are actually some of my favorite things to write. And, given that I dubbed 2017 the year to stop living for other people way back in January, I only think it’s fair for me to keep going with them.

These might seem a little repetitive/redundant to some people, and I’m sorry if you’re not a fan. But if you’d humor me and be cool with seeing some goals at the beginning of each month, I’d really appreciate it!

Use Instagram stories more often

I’ve gotten more consistent on social media these last several months, which is something I’ve been really happy about. I love being able to connect with you all on different platforms, and it’s fun to see a more behind-the-scenes look at the lives of some of my favorite bloggers.

One of the best ways to do this is through Instagram stories. What’s so great about stories is that they allow you to share exactly what’s going on with you right at the exact moment. As someone who pre-writes a lot of her content, I think this is a fun, interactive to keep you all up-to-date on what’s going on with me. Unfortunately, I forget to do it most of the time.

This month, I’m going to try and make the effort to post on my Instagram stories at least once a day. If you want to hold me accountable, you can follow me on Instagram and keep an eye out. I feel like I’m totally going to fail this one, TBH. But I’m going to give it a go anyway.

Decide on a camera model

One of my big goals for the year is to invest in a nice camera. I’ve been using the same digital one since I started blogging. And although it has been good to me, it hasn’t always been reliable. It’s really sensitive to light, which is a pain when you use natural lighting. Plus, I can’t count on the photos not to turn out dark and grainy. When I upload shots to my laptop after a photo session, I’m never quite sure whether they’ll actually be useable.

That being said, I think now is the perfect time to decide on a model. I’ve got a few different ones I’ve been looking at, and I know if I’m ever going to get around to making the splurge, I’m going to have to pick one. Maybe I’ll do a blog post on cameras and see what you all think. I’d love to hear from your experiences!

Pre-write a TON of fashion posts

This is probably my most ambitious goal for the month, and I have a feeling it’ll be difficult to meet. Weather permitting, I’d really like to get a lot of summer fashion posts photographed and written prior to the end of the month. With all the flowers in bloom, I feel like this is the best time of year for taking OOTD photos. Besides, I’ve found the spring weather really inspiring lately in terms of fashion, so I think I could put together some fun, seasonal outfits.

I’m going to aim for eight outfit posts this month. Ideally, I’d like to have them totally finished, though I’d be perfectly okay with just the photos. Getting them shot and uploaded tends to be the trickiest part.

Get next month’s blogging planned out

I’m a planner, if you can’t already tell. If something has the ability to be planned out and organized, believe me, it’s going to be planned out and organized. I especially like to have things planned out when it comes to content here on Currently, Lately. It gives me peace of mind knowing that things are organized, so I’d like to take some time this month to get ready for next month. I’ve got a few ideas already, and I’m excited to get them written down. The more I have planned, the better.

That’s all I’ve got for today! Thank you for reading and have a lovely day! 🙂

This is something I am going to start doing. Although, I have always set goals, I never took the time out to set monthly goals. This is going to be something I am going to start today. Thanks Paige, I will post my May 2018 goal!

  2. Good goals! And you share whatever you want to share! Your true followers will be there for that!

I started 2018 with the goal of each month surpassing the previous month’s blog views. So far I’m succeeding except for Feb when I visited faraway family for a week and just focused on being with them and not blogging or vlogging…and then I was a little depressed when I came back and had a hard time getting back into work flow. But the past two months have been back on track.

I’ve also been a little inconsistent with my Instagram lately, so I’ve challenged myself to post an outfit of the day every day this month and see if I can get in that habit and keep it.

That’s just a couple, I’m sure more will present themselves as the month wears on!

  3. I love the idea of planning out the month. I think it would help take the pressure off coming up with something on short notice. Most of my posts in recent months have been written the day of or the day before.

  4. I am so bad at pre-writing posts – I tend to just write them the day before on the day so one of my goals this month is to start pre-writing so I’m not scrambling for ideas last minute! xx
