I don’t know about you, but the last couple months of winter are always rough on my skin.
Horribly, excruciatingly rough.
I know that sounds super dramatic, but if you have dry skin, I’m sure you understand.
Winter is not friendly to those of us with less-than-hydrated skin. My skin gets bad in the wintertime. And I mean BAD. A Sahara Desert-level of dryness. No matter what exfoliators or moisturizers or lotions I use, I always end up having the driest possible skin around this time of year. No alterations to my skincare regime have ever changed that.
Or so I thought.
As I was cleaning out one of my bathroom drawers the other day, I stumbled upon a couple of skincare samples I had never gotten around to trying. I didn’t think much about them, but decided I might as well give them a go. And lo and behold, I ended up finding the perfect winter skincare routine for myself.
I have to preface this by saying the full-size versions of these products are EXTREMELY expensive. I’ve yet to finish up my sample bottles, and though I’m loving them, I’m not totally sure whether or not I’ll buy the larger ones. I don’t know if I could justify spending that much on skincare on a regular basis. Budget beauty is very important here on Currently, Lately.
Now that you have been warned, let’s talk more about the products themselves!
First up, I’ve been washing my face with Glam Glow’s Supercleanse at both morning and night. This is honestly one of the most interesting cleansers I’ve ever used. The formula is designed to transition from cream-to-foam in your hands. You squirt a little product into your palms, add water, and watch as the product develops a foamy consistency.
What really struck me as fantastic about this formula (besides the fact that it left my skin feeling UNBELIEVABLY fresh and moisturized) was that it wasn’t too thick or difficult to wash off. Something I dislike about most face washes of this nature is that they are a nuisance to scrub away. Sure they may do nice things for your skin, but do you really want to spend 10 minutes trying to rinse all the gunk off afterwards? Yeah, me neither.
That isn’t a problem with this cleanser though. It only takes a few seconds for me to get my face completely clear. And the effects are immediate. My skin never feels softer or fresher than it does after this wash.
Once I’ve patted my face dry, I apply a little dab of the Fresh Rose Floral Toner. In the past, I’ve been sort of apathetic towards toners because a). a lot of them are absurdly expensive and b). who wants to shell out money on something that just seems like fancy face water?
Well, I have to admit that this toner has forced me to reconsider my anti-toner philosophy. Not only do I feel like my skin has been looking clearer since I started using it, it has also been feeling a lot less dry. The spots that are typically the most dry on my face aren’t dry AT ALL (which is a miracle by my standards), and overall my skin feels much healthier.
I’ve only been using these products for about a week, but they have made all the difference in my skin, and its ridiculous level of dryness. I can’t wait to continue using them and seeing how they progress.
Thank you for reading! Have a wonderful day!
