A Festive Red Lip

I think it would be fair to say that the holiday season could easily be renamed the red lip season. Around this time of year, it seems that everyone (myself included) is seeking out a good shade of red lipstick to pair with their festive outfits.

I’ve recently found my go-to lip color for this season. I actually wore it in my OOTD post yesterday (if you haven’t checked it out already). It’s pretty and simple. But the best thing about it is that I created it using a couple of products I already had sitting in my lipstick collection. There truly is nothing better than finding a hidden gem that you had all but forgotten about.

I really love the way this lipstick combination looks. I think it gives off the festive vibe I was going for. That being said, today I thought I would share the products I used to create it.

For starters, I lined my lips using a Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in “Cruella.” I first tried this lip pencil when I got it as a birthday gift from Sephora a few years back, and it has been one of my favorite high-end lip products ever since. The color of this pencil is really deep and rich. And (for a matte lipstick), it really isn’t all that drying.

Next, I apply one of Rimmel London’s Moisture Renew Lipstick in the shade “Red Alert.” I’ve been a fan of this lipstick for quite a while now. As you can probably deduce from the name, it’s a fun, vibrant shade of red. It reminds me of the color of poinsettias, which is obviously perfect for the holiday season. Overall, it’s a great drugstore pickup.

Voila! That’s the look! A simple and pretty red lip. I can’t wait to wear it throughout the season’s festivities.

What’s your current favorite lipstick?
