Drugstore Beauty Favorites

Budget beauty is a topic that never fails to peak my interest. Being on a budget myself, I love finding effective products that don’t cost outrageous prices, especially around the holiday season when I have dozens of other things to buy. I feel like it’s a common belief that drugstore products are automatically of lesser quality than high-end products, but I disagree. A lot of my holy grail items come from my local Target or CVS. Besides, there are definitely some high-end products that I am not a fan of, as I mentioned in some older posts.

Today I thought it would be fun to take some time to talk about some of my drugstore must-haves. Items like these are so great because they don’t force you to sacrifice quality for price. Hopefully you’ll be able to find some good buys for yourself.

First up, I’ll start with a product that I know I’ve already spent a decent amount of time raving about, which is the NYX HD Photogenic Concealer. At $4.99, this is the perfect product for someone looking to decrease their makeup spending. This is a pretty basic concealer in terms of coverage and creasing. It does a good job of covering up redness, blemishes, and under eye circles. Wand concealers are always the way to go in my opinion, so application is simple and hassle-free. Plus, you don’t have to worry about wasting product because too much came out. Even if it wasn’t so budget friendly, this would definitely still be my top pick at the drugstore.

Another beauty item that I have historically enjoyed has been the Rimmel London Natural Bronzer. This was my go-to bronzer for a very long time. It has rich pigmentation, blends easily, and gives your skin a nice glow. The only real downside to this product is that the name of it isn’t very accurate. Despite claiming to be a natural bronzer, the formula is extremely shimmery. If you’re looking for something on the subtler side, this probably isn’t what you want. But it’s a fun bronzer to have for more glam looks.

Something else that I’m a big fan of is the Maybelline BB Cream Face Makeup. I generally prefer BB creams to foundations. I’d rather have a minimal coverage product that feels light on my skin than a full coverage product that feels heavy on my skin. I don’t like the way that foundations feel thick and oily. Anyways, this BB cream is incredibly light on skin. It doesn’t feel like it’s seeping into your pores (sorry for the unnecessary visual), or weighing down on your face. Being a BB cream, it’s obviously minimal coverage. But I think it gives your complexion a nice, even look.

A drugstore favorites post wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t include my favorite Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm. I use this product on a daily basis because I love how soft and hydrated it makes my lips feel. I tend to get chapped lips in the late fall/early winter, so this is a must-have for me. Besides, the product isn’t very pigmented, so it’s great to use with drying matte lipsticks. You get all the moisturize of the balm without an overpowering lip color.

Another drugstore favorite of mine are the NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipsticks. (If you can’t already tell, NYX is one of my favorite drugstore brands.) I absolutely adore these lipsticks. They have fantastic pigmentation and a rich, creamy texture. It’s rare to find an inexpensive lipstick that meets both of these qualifications, which makes this one so wonderful. I prefer this one to some of my high-end lipsticks.

With that, I’m going to log off to take a few blog photos. I hope you have a positive experience with these products if you decide to try them!

What are some of your drugstore favorites?

Sincerely,

  1. Great post! I love finding affordable options at the drugstore. The Maybelline BB cream used to be my favorite! I might have to pick one up again as I haven’t used it in a couple of years. You should try the Milani baked bronzer in soleil. It’s so good!

  2. Great post! I love that Maybelline BB cream! I always used the color correcting shades of the Nyx HD concealer, but I don’t think I ever tried any of the normal shades… I’ll have to try that!
