June Favorites 2017

How is it possible that it’s already July? I honestly can’t believe how quickly summer has been going so far. I don’t even want to think about the fact that a month of warm summer weather is behind us, so I’m just going to dive straight into today’s post, which is my monthly favorites for June. I’ve got a lot of different items that I’d like to share with you all today, ranging from beauty to fashion to entertainment.

The first item I’ve been loving this month has been the Bb. Don’t Blow It Fine (H)air Styler. If you know anything about me, you know that I’m typically not a hair product person. I don’t usually splurge on high-end hair care products, but I received a sample of this one in my June Sephora Play and have really enjoyed it. This cream from Bumble and bumble is designed specifically for air dried hair, which is perfect for me because I generally prefer to let my hair air dry. Anyways, the cream works to give your hair a rich, silky texture and helps prevent flyaways. You apply it when your hair is damp and then just allow it to air dry. I love it because makes for a very simple hair care routine. I run a bit of it through my hair after I wash it and don’t have to worry about it becoming super dry or frizzy. I highly recommend trying it out, especially for the summer.

Another product that I tried and loved in my June Sephora Play is the Tarte Tarteguard 20 Tinted Moisturizer. Like most people, summertime for me usually means a simpler, lighter makeup routine. To me, there’s nothing worse than the feeling of foundation on your skin on a humid day. It’s dense, cakey, and often streaky. I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve applied poor quality foundation and had it melt off my face in extreme heat. This tinted moisturizer is great because it gives my skin a nice, even base without the heaviness of a foundation. It sits comfortably on your face without creasing and seems to bode well even in hot temperatures. Plus, it contains SPF, which is almost always needed in the summer. Tarteguard is one of the few products I’ve been using on my face this June and it’s so fantastic.

Going along with the theme of simplified summer beauty routines, I’ve recently been putting my hair in quick and easy updos. The easiest thing for me to use has been a giant hair claw. My hair is short and thick, but clips like these are so great for quickly getting hair off my neck. All I have to do is twist my hair and pin it at the back of my head. I feel very 90s when I use a hair claw, but I definitely love the look and the ease.

My next favorite is this little owl charm necklace that I received the first or second week of June. If you read my April favorites post, then you’re probably thinking “wow, she owns a lot of owl necklaces.’ (Owls happen to be my favorite animal, so I have quite a few different owl-themed pieces). Anyways, this necklace has been my go-to piece of jewelry this month. It’s simply, dainty, and matches nearly every outfit I wear. I love being able to clasp it around my neck right before I head out the door. It’s such a cute and reliable piece.

In music, I’ve been loving Lorde’s “Melodrama.” As a big fan of Lorde, I was so excited for this album’s release. Her last album came out in 2013, so it’s been a while since she has put out anything new. “Melodrama” is a great record and you should definitely give it a listen if you haven’t. Some of my favorite tracks are “Homemade Dynamite,” “The Louvre,” “Hard Feelings/Loveless,” and “Perfect Places.”

I read a few different books this month, one of which was “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins. Mystery/thriller novels tend to be some of my favorites, so I thought this was an interesting summer read. I liked the novel’s style of writing, though I did catch on to the story’s “plot twist” fairly early, which disappointed me a little bit. Overall, it was a good summertime read.

That concludes this addition of my monthly favorites! In the past, most of my favorites posts have pretty much been concentrated on makeup and beauty, but I really enjoyed writing about a wider range of things. Let me know if you’d like to see more eclectic favorites posts similar to this one, or if you prefer them to beauty-centric!

Also, I just wanted to quickly thank you all for 2,500 followers! I genuinely appreciate each and every one of you and cannot thank you enough for following!

What were some of your June favorites?

Sincerely,

  1. Love that Bumble and Bumble hair product! I’m definitely a fuss-free hair stylist too and it’s really the perfect product for that. I also love Melodrama! I have been listening to it non-stop since it came out. Great album 👌🏻 💕
