Monthly Goals: May 2017

Another month, another installment of my monthly goals. This has been one of my longest running features on my blog and I’m very happy that I’ve stuck with it. As I’ve said before, doing this has really helped me stay on top of my goals and track how well I’m doing with them.

1. Drink more water.

Over the past few months, I’ve become increasingly more dependent on coffee. While it has made it easier for me to get things done over longer periods of time, it has also caused me to drink a lot less water. One of my biggest goals for May is to drink more water than coffee. A good intake of water can have a lot of health benefits, such as clearer skin and a boosted immune system.

Plus, drinking more water is something that I always say I’m going to do, but never actually follow through with. Maybe by putting it down on this month’s list, I’ll actually do it. (Probably not but it’s the thought that counts, right?) I guess I’ll find out at the end of the month.

2. Run everyday.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I actually love to run. I hated it for a long time, but last year I developed a more consistent running schedule and ended up really enjoying it. Unfortunately, because of the busy schedule that I had this April, I wasn’t able to go running as much as usual. This month, I’d like to get back to my daily running routine. I’m going to focus on not only finding the time to run, but making the time to run. It’ll be a challenge, but I’m hoping I can handle it.

3. Be better at social media.

I have a very haphazard relationship with my blog social media. There are days when I post multiple times and then there are days when I don’t post at all. This month I’m planning to become more consistent with my social media posting. I’ve gotten better in the past few months, but I still have bad stretches. Specifically, I’d like to improve my Twitter and Instagram.

If you follow me on any of these platforms (all of which are linked below), make sure to comment your usernames. I’d love to connect with/get to know you all better, and I feel like social media is the perfect way to do that.

4. Clean out my makeup collection

Here’s an unsurprising confession: I’m an extreme makeup hoarder. I rarely throw out or give away products, even if they’re practically empty or never used. I guess this makes sense when you think about it. After spending $30 on a bronzer, who wants to part with it? Nevertheless, I need to do something about my growing stockpile of unwanted products. While I do use a lot of my makeup as blog props, there are definitely some things that I need to throw out. My mascara and foundation collections are especially in need a good clean out.

5. Develop a consistent blog schedule.

I’m recycling this goal from last month’s post because I wasn’t able to do it, but it’s something that definitely needs to get done. This month, I’m hoping to figure out the best days and times for me to blog. I really want you all to know when to expect a post. Besides, I think it’ll make it easier on me too. It will probably take some experimentation, so be prepared for randomly timed blog posts.

  1. I am struggling with a blogging schedule too lol.. I am so not a schedule person.. i just like to write a post when i get a chance/urge to write. But i know there’s so much value in consistency so it’s def worth the effort! Good luck with your schedule & other goals :))

  2. I am horrible at getting rid of makeup, also! I just don’t wanna do it! As for a blogging schedule, this has been a goal I’ve been working on since starting in January. Life sometimes gets in the way, and I’d hate to not post when I’ve already said when I’m going to post. I wish you the best in reaching your goals! Maybe we can help keep you accountable. 🙂

  3. Good luck on the blog goals! I’ve just been developing a more consistent schedule and found that deciding on what posts I’ll be be publishing for the next few
weeks really helps me. If I’m in a time crunch I can figure out what points I want to make and try to actively finish on the day I planned for. But I also have an idea for what to do in case it doesn’t get done, because if something’s too rigid I seem to fall off the bandwagon completely.

  4. Great to set the goals! I want to focus on developing a consistent blog schedule as well but before that i’ll have to get ruthless with my time and tasks at hand. 🙂

    All the very best!
