Blogging On A Busy Schedule

Before I get into today’s blog, I’d just like to quickly mention that there was a new post yesterday. For reasons that I have yet to determine, yesterday’s post is showing up as two days ago’s post and so it didn’t appear in the WordPress reader. If you want to check it out, I wrote about five signs that you may need a break from your phone.

Anyways, today I thought that I would write a general catch-up post and sort of explain to you all what the next couple of weeks are going to look like in terms of blog posts. One of my biggest goals this month was to develop a conducive blogging schedule and so I figured it would help if I chatted about what I was thinking.

If you’ve been following along with this blog for more than a couple of months, then you probably know that I’ve never really had a set blogging schedule. The reason behind that is that when I first started my blog, I didn’t know how often I would have the time to write. As the months have gone on, however, I’ve found myself blogging more and more frequently. This is because I developed a consistent work and life schedule. I had a clear idea of what I needed to get done every day and budgeted my time carefully. This is what has allowed me to blog so often these past couple of months.

And while my long-term work and life schedule isn’t changing, my short-term one is. April is shaping up to be a busy month for me. I’ve got a lot going on in every aspect of my life and I’m not sure how much time it’ll leave me for blogging. I won’t know until we proceed a little further into the month.

If things go the way that I want them to, then you won’t see many changes to my posting routine. I’m going to continue to make the effort to produce content as often as I can. But if things go differently than expected, there could be a few less blog posts in the month of April. I’m hoping this doesn’t happen, but on the off-chance that it does, I don’t want it to seem like I’ve suddenly deserted this blog. It could seem like that, but I promise it’s not the case.

Once May rolls around, things will go back to normal. The craziness of my schedule will taper off and I’ll return to my old routine. Like I said, I’m pretty sure that nothing is going to change. This post is simply a precaution in case things take an unexpected turn.

If you’ve been blogging for even a few months, you probably know how demanding it can be. If you don’t keep your priorities straight, it can easy to fall behind. I promise I’ll try to stay consistent, but if I can’t I just want you all to know why. I can’t wait for this month to be over so that my regular schedule resumes.

How do you deal with blogging on a busy schedule?

Sincerely,

Paige

  1. The issue of the post showing up at an earlier time happened to me, it turned out that my time zone wasnt correct in settings, worth checking 😊

  2. I was having problems with posts if I Saved As Draft, which was an option if I was writing on my phone or tablet (which save local drafts) and then wanted to switch to my computer.

  3. Love this post! I study at uni and I work at the weekends so it’s difficult for me to multi task so I find it hard to blog often 😫

  4. I, too, have tried to commit to a posting schedule, but all too often life doesn’t work with our plans. We’ll get caught up in school or work, the very thing that supports our blogging yet can sometimes be another obstacle to contend with. Life likes to collide when we’re at our busiest, and I suppose that’s where we find out who we truly are as bloggers.

Loved this! This was very reassuring.

  5. I, too, try to make sure I have a couple posts per week. I also find I need to be in the right mode to write. So most often on the weekend, I may write several columns and schedule them to go out in the next week or two. I really need inspiration to hit, and then I can knock out a post relatively quickly. I have a hard time finding time for photographs, so I have just started keeping a camera handy so I can shoot whatever is interesting or when I am doing something I know I will write a blog about.

    1. I definitely write in spurts as well. There are days where I can knock out several posts and then others where I struggle to find the inspiration for one. I try to get a lot of photography done at a time, which can definitely be challenging if I haven’t figured out what I’m going to write about!

  6. When I know I have a busy schedule, I will schedule my posts and pre write them for that day. That way I know on Thursday for an example my blog post will go live and there will be content on my blog x

      1. I’ve started planning all of my blog posts and YouTube videos a week in advance and scheduling them a week in advance. It’s made such a massive difference to my stress levels x

  7. Great post! I’ve only been blogging for just over a month, and I know what you mean about how demanding it can be. I’ve started posting everyday, at first because I had so much travel I wanted to talk about, that it was fun to make it everyday. As time went on though, I’ve started backlogging a few blogs, so I can continue posting daily. It’s still so much fun! I love to write 🙂

  8. I mean I just post once a week but I put so much time and effort into optimising all of my posts and making each post the absolute best they can be and for me that’s really time consuming so I can’t even imagine what it would be like for someone who posts very regularly or daily.
