Have you ever heard that old idiom that says “there are only two things certain in life: death and taxes” ? While death and taxes are certainly inevitable, I think there’s another guarantee that this quote forgets to include: stress.
Regardless of where we are in life, we’re bound to experience some form of stress or anxiety. It’s easy to let anxious feelings get the best of you and become so consumed with what stresses you that you forget about the things that make you happy.
In the last couple of years, I’ve come to realize how difficult it is to keep what matters in mind when you’re faced with challenges. Worry and fear and stress take up so much of our time that we often forget to slow down every once and a while. We forget to spare a moment to breathe.
So instead of fretting over something pointless today, make some time for yourself. Take a second or a minute or an hour to relax and enjoy the good things around you. Tonight I’m going to take a few of hours off social media to relax, unwind, and give myself a figurative breath. It won’t be for long, but I think it’s going to help me a pretty great deal. When things get chaotic, we need to let ourselves regroup and recharge. I’m glad to be setting aside this time for myself, and I hope you’re able to do the same in the near future.
What do you do when you need a moment to breathe?
Sincerely,
Paige

I learned a Chinese healthcare method called Qigong during college from our choir director. It’s a combination of posture, breathing, focused intent. It uses the body’s own energy to correct things. I will literally take a moment when I’m stressed, grab my Qigong pillow, and just breathe in a corner. Best thing that ever came out of my college life besides my degree.

It truly is and can technically be done anywhere. I do it in the car sometimes before I go in for work.

Terrific post! I wrote on a similar topic–the epidemic of busyness. You can check it out here–https://purrfectleap.com/2017/03/23/when-did-busyness-become-a-crutch/.
Have a great weekend!

I read once when you are the most stressed, that’s when you need break to let your mind decompress, even if only for a few minutes. I get outside. Fresh air and sunshine can do wonders! And leave the phone inside.

Sunshine definitely makes me feel better! And I agree so much with leaving the phone. It’s good to have a social media cleanse every now and then
