My Experience With Amazon’s “Echo Dot”

So I mentioned, albeit briefly, in my latest favorites post that I received an Amazon “Echo Dot” for Christmas and had been in the process of learning how to use it. It’s been several weeks since then (how is it that we’re halfway through January?) and now I feel like I’ve tested it out for long enough to formulate a solid opinion on it. Hopefully this review can help any of you tech lovers who have thought about getting this item for yourself.

In case you’re unfamiliar with it, the “Echo Dot” is one of the latest technological devices produced by Amazon. Essentially, it acts as a computerized personal assistant, or more sophisticated version of Apple’s Siri. You can ask the device, known as Alexa, virtually (ha-ha, technology puns) any research-based questions and it’ll be able to instantly answer them. In addition, Alexa can do things such as play music, make grocery lists, set alarms, and order items off Amazon.

So far, I’ve found the primary features of the “Echo Dot” to be helpful and convenient. My favorite aspect would have to be the radio. I love being able to verbally pull up any radio station, especially when I’m cleaning or studying. The “Echo Dot” also has the ability to play music through Bluetooth speakers, including through Spotify and Pandora. This can be really fun feature if you’re wanting to listen to a specific genre or playlist.

Something else I think is very interesting about the “Echo Dot” is that it allows you to turn off lights in your home. While I don’t have the technology to do that right now, I definitely think it’s one of of the device’s most unique features.

Another thing I really enjoy about this device is that it’s easy to use. While I know a little bit about technology, by no means do I consider myself an expert. However, setting up my “Echo Dot” was fairly simple. It comes with basic, step-by-step instructions and it very quick to set up. I opened this device on Christmas Eve, and had it up and running a few short minutes later. You don’t have to be tech-savvy to use it. Also, I like that this device is very small and lightweight. This makes it easy for me to move it about my house, as well as to keep on my counter.

In consensus, if you’re thinking about purchasing an “Echo Dot,” I definitely recommend it. I love using mine and continue to discover new features every day.

Thank you so much for reading. Additionally, I’d like to thank you for getting this blog to 800 followers!

  1. I love it because it is less money and works the same as the echo! I cant believe folks will spend over $100 dollars for the echo and the tap just to have a taller looking speaker lol lol.
