So the other day I was looking back on some of my old blog posts and I realized how much my blogging style has changed over the past few months. I started my blog almost five months ago, and although I’m still relatively new to this community, I feel like I’ve learned a lot about creating content, and I’d love to share the knowledge (which isn’t much) that I’ve acquired. I think this type of information can be very valuable during the first month of blogging. Posts like these helped me (and still help me) understand how to be a better blogger. This is such a wonderful, supportive community. Hopefully, if you’re new at blogging as well, we can share tips and tricks with one another 🙂
Today I thought it would be helpful to talk about blog props and photos. When I first started my blog, I didn’t realize how important blog photos are. Your pictures essentially are what draw viewers to your blog, so taking good quality ones can be really effective in bringing traffic to your blog. But the quality of a photo isn’t just determined by the type of camera used. The layout of the picture itself is crucial too.
Blog props are a great way to add a bit of festivity to your blog photos. They’re simple details that make pictures more appealing to the eye. What’s also wonderful about blog props is that they can be pretty inexpensive. In fact, you probably have these items somewhere in your house.
These are some blog prop ideas that I use/have used in the past. I hope they can help you add some flare to your photos as well.
Doilies do an incredible job of bringing texture to your pictures. Their interesting patterns nicely complement an otherwise plain surface. I personally like to use doilies with makeup products. They pair well with mascaras, eyeliners, and eyebrow pencils. Not to mention they’re cheap. I picked up a pack of paper doilies at my local craft store for under two dollars.
Rings are also excellent at filling up empty spaces. If I have a photo that looks too plain, I tend to spread a handful of rings across the area. They break up empty spots and add style to an image.
I’ve recently been loving using candles as blog props. I’m a candle hoarder, so I have no difficulty in finding ones that match the focus of my photos. If you don’t want to drop a lot of money on Yankee or Bath & Body Works candles, you can always search for some at your local grocery or craft store.
Lastly, the easiest and most simple item to add to your photos is your phone. This is especially interesting if you have a case that works well with the focus of your picture. I think my case, which is light blue and Breakfast At Tiffany’s themed, looks good next to beauty items, as well as books that have similar colors. This is such an easy addition that I absolutely adore.
Thank you so much for reading this post. If you’d like to see more blogging inspiration posts, feel free to let me know. I’m not a professional by any means, but it’s fun to offer my take on blogging.
Make sure to check back for tomorrow’s post. I’ll be blogging every day until the 24th.
