Too Faced Shadow Insurance Review

Today I’m going to be sharing my thoughts on Too Faced’s infamous “Shadow Insurance.” This product has been a big deal in the beauty community for quite some time, so I’m excited to write my reaction to it.

Before I begin, I’d like to thank Francesca Emily Beauty for requesting this review. I really appreciate the feedback I receive. If you have requests yourself, feel free to leave them in the comments.

Description (per Sephora) – Shadow Insurance locks down eye shadows, intensifying color to ensure waterproof, crease- , and fade-proof coverage for up to 24 hours. The ultra-lightweight, colorless formula glides effortlessly onto lids, leaving a smooth, even canvas for budge-proof shadow application.

Price – $20

Size – 0.35 oz

As always, I’d like to start this review with the product’s packaging. Too Faced has actually updated the look of its “Shadow Insurance” tube since I purchased it, but the differences are minimal–the cap color, the font. Overall, the packaging is gorgeous and easily accessible. While I don’t particularly care for squeezable bottles (they always seem to squirt out too much product), this one doesn’t bother me.

Rating: 4/5

Like most eyeshadow primers, “Shadow Insurance” is a neutral, champagne-esque color. Also, unless I’m going crazy, which, hopefully isn’t the case, it has a tad of shimmer. I know some people like sparkles and some people don’t, so keep that in mind if you’re considering it.

Rating: 4/5

“Shadow Insurance” is very easy to apply. Just as it states in the description, it glides on smoothly and effortlessly. The texture of the product is the same way. While the formula is a little bit oily, it manages to dry up nicely before you apply your eyeshadow.

Rating: 3.5/5

Durability/Color Enhancement:

Being the most important aspect of an eyeshadow primer, the durability of “Shadow Insurance” is the part I’m most pleased with. This primer really blocks out creases and oil while simultaneously keeping eyeshadow vibrant and smudge-free. Not to mention the fact that it’s waterproof.

I’ve found that “Shadow Insurance” works best with Too Faced products, but it’s effective with other brands as well.

Rating: 5/5

Thank you so much for checking out this review. I’d also like to give a big thanks for four hundred followers! I find it really exciting!

Until next time.

Sincerely yours,
