Beauty Hacks: Make Your Own Cream Eyeshadow In Two Minutes

Hello lovelies!

So I came across this little beauty hack the other day and I couldn’t resist sharing it with you all: a simple way to create your own cream eyeshadows. I personally love trying out different beauty hacks because they allow to make the most out of products you already own. This trick is definitely one of my favorites. It’s quick and (if you’re terrible at DIYS like me) you’ll be happy to know it’s fool-proof.

Do you just hate it when you can’t find the right shade of eyeshadow? It only seems to happen when you spend hours on your makeup, contouring and highlighting and priming. You don’t always have the time or money to go pick up a new shadow either. Makeup is expensive and getting to your nearest Sephora or Ulta may not be an option. This hack allows you to whip up the perfect shade of eyeshadow with products you already have in your makeup collection.

  • solid black, white, or gray eyeshadow (depends on if your going light or dark)
  • Q-tips
  • eyeshadow brush
  • lipstick of your choice (the more pigmented the better)
  • eyeshadow primer
  • plate or dish (to mix on)

Step One: Gather your materials. Select a lipstick similar to the color you’d like to use on your eyes. The more pigmented the shadow the better result. Since I was trying to create a red shadow, I picked this vibrant red gloss from It Cosmetics.

Step Two: Scoop a chunk of your lipstick and place it on your plate/dish. A little bit goes a long way. You don’t need very much.

Step Three: Find a solid color eyeshadow base. I used this white shade (also from It Cosmetics) in order to lighten up my lipstick. However, you could just as easily go darker.

Step Four: Using your eyeshadow brush, add your eyeshadow base to the lipstick on the plate. When you have an ample amount, take your Q-tip and mix the two together. Add more of either product until it reaches your desired color.

Step Five: Prime your eyes!

Step Six:  Carefully dab your new cream shadow across your eyelids and carry on with your makeup routine.

Here’s a shot of the finished product. I created this bright red shadow specifically for a Halloween costume. I adore how it turned out.

I hope you enjoyed this little beauty hack. Let me know your favorite makeup tips in the comments. I’d love to read them. As always, thank you so much for reading.

Sincerely yours,
