Maybelline Baby Skin Review

Hello, hello!

I don’t know what it is about this week, but it seems like the perfect time for beauty-related posts. Be warned: this is the first of many.

Today I’m going to review Maybelline’s “Baby Skin.” If you aren’t familiar with this product, it is a face primer that claims to erase pores. While this isn’t a recent release, I know a lot of people have been curious about it. These are my thoughts on the product.

“Baby Skin” comes in a baby blue squeezable tube. Powder blue is my favorite color, so I was smitten with the packaging. The product itself is translucent.

The first thing I noticed when I applied this primer was its texture. It has a smooth, gel-like consistency, which makes it very easy to apply. I love products that are quick and simple. They work wonders on days that I’m running late. I rubbed the “Baby Skin” primer across my face before completing the rest of my makeup.

After I applied my foundation, my skin felt excessively oily. I figured I hadn’t given it enough time to soak in, so I repeated the process. Unfortunately, my skin still felt greasy beyond imagine. It was like I had gone for a five mile run on a hundred degree day. I thought it was going to give me blemishes.

A few hours later, I examined the state of my pores. While “Baby Skin” claims to be a pore eraser, mine had not disappeared. To be sure this wasn’t a fluke, I tried this primer again the next day. I ended up with the exact same results.

In addition, this primer did not prolong the wear of my makeup. Quite frankly, I think the greasiness caused my foundation to melt off faster.

Consensus:

I think it’s fairly obvious that I wasn’t a fan of this product. In fact, I was thoroughly disappointed. Maybelline is one of my favorite drugstore brands, so I was surprised by the results of (or should I say lack of) this product. I wouldn’t recommend this primer, especially if you have acne-prone skin. It seems to be oil-based, so there’s a good chance it would cause you to breakout.
