Hello!
Since I run a blog that focuses primarily on beauty, fashion, and lifestyle, it should come to no surprise that I love Pinterest (I know I throw the word “love” around quite often, but I promise I’m sincere). I’m constantly creating boards, saving ideas, and scrolling through my feed. As a person with zero (and I mean zero) artistic ability, this is an astonishing experience. I’m baffled by the crafting skills I witness. They often inspire me to design projects of my own, which all fail miserably.
Expectation:
Reality:

Like I said: no artistic talent whatsoever. However, despite my lack of ability, I still want to decorate in a Pinterest-style manner. It’s manageable and fun. If you’re feel like this too, here are some Pinterest-inspired decorating tips that require absolutely no crafting skills.
#1 Real Life “Pinboard”
This decorating idea is two of my favorite things: easy and versatile. Firstly, locate corkboard or photo hanger. Chances are you already have one laying around your house. But if not, don’t fret; they are relatively inexpensive (Check out the link below for a pack I found at Walmart). The wire photo hanger showcased in this picture is from TJ Maxx. I have an obsession with birdcages. Once you’ve attained a board, pin it in some of your favorite images. These can be pictures of friends, funny quotes, or anything that sparks your eye. As a Breakfast At Tiffany’s fan, I decided to clip up the iconic image of Audrey Hepburn gazing in the Tiffany window, a fluffy black dress, and–of course–the Tiffany emblem. Design yours to fit your personality. It’s like a Pinterest board come to life!

#2 Fun Accessory Rack
A great decoration can be functional as well. This accessory hanger displays my favorite go-to items, and adorns my wall in the process. I purchased this little hanger at Target for (again) a fairly low price. You can pick something similar up at your local grocery store and drape it in your day-to-day necessities. Umbrellas, purses, sunglasses, and coats are just a few of the many things to select from.
#3 Glass Candy Jars
One of the most common things I see on Pinterest is glass jars filled with bright, electric colors. They’re interesting to look at because you can see the products inside. I like to display my Bath & Body Works hand sanitizers in these candy jars.
#4 String of Lights
While this idea might be a little bit more Tumblr than Pinterest, it’s still a popular ( and, thankfully, simple) Internet trend. A string of lights bring a nice change of lighting to a room. Besides, they look über festive around the holidays.
#5 Easy DIY: Magazine Wall Décor
What you need:
- picture frame (I recommend black. Size is a personal preference)
- ruler
- scissors
- magazine cover image
Step 1: Select a magazine cover. Skim through the Internet to find a cover you like, or use one you already own. For something easy and chic, I’d recommend using a vintage Vogue cover.
Step 2: Print out a full-size image of this cover. Unless the cover is black and white, make sure you have colored ink.
Step 3: Measure your selected image and picture frame with a ruler. Then, carefully cut your photo down in order for it to fit the frame.
Step 4: Insert image into frame (duh…)
Step 5: Voila! You have a new wall decal! Hang this up on a vacant wall to bring some intrigue to a room.
Thank you so much for reading. I hope some of these ideas are useful to you.
You should check out my Pinterest by the way! It’s @CurrentlyLately ! (I despise self-advertisement, but I couldn’t resist)
Sincerely yours,
Paige
